an update from GB athlete Zak Seddon
We have been lucky enough to support some of our top local based athletes, including Amelia Quirk, Izzy Fry, Adam Dart and Zak Seddon. Zak is currently training for the Tokyo Olympics and has sent us an update on his training throughout the past year.
“Over the past year we have all learnt that we are all stronger when working together, as a team. That’s why I couldn’t be happier to thank Energy Saving Lighting for their continued support.
Ever since I started running I have always dreamed of competing amongst the worlds best for my country at an Olympic Games. ESL has been invaluable in helping me do this, and it’s a pleasure to be on this journey with the support of a team that holds itself to the standards of elite performance.
2020 was a crazy and unpredictable year, and with the postponement of the Olympics and most other races there was an opportunity to push my training further than ever before, without having to worry too much about the repercussions. This period of training helped me get into my great shape and lay some really good foundations to build upon going into the Olympics this year. ESL were crucial in helping me do this, their unwavering support throughout uncertain times enabled me to focus everything towards the track.
I’m currently away in Dubai getting some warm weather training done and moving the body at race pace before entering the final 6 months of preparations before the games. During this time the plan is to get away for a couple of months to the mountains for high a altitude training camp. This is arguably the most important period of training, we will really take the body to the limits before coming home and entering a racing period where my goal is to become British Champion and secure my spot on the Olympic team.
I couldn’t be prouder to represent ESL, they have already had a huge positive effect on my performance, having them believe in me has made me a much stronger athlete and person, I can’t wait to see what we can do together in 2021.”
